Breitling 816 Navitimer

 For sale, this very fine example of a 1967-68 Breitling Navitimer  Model 816  Serial Number 1244447.The 806 and 816 were available for purchase at the same time,the 816 wasn't necessarily a replacement for the 806 but offered the customer an alternative in design.
As you can see from the pictures the model 816 has a six sided case,a case back that screws down, and an armoured plexi glass. The pushers and winding crown are similar to the 806.The dial is the only interchangeable part as the 806 and the 816 use  the same Venus 178 movement. The slide rule looks the same but has a different mechanism  for  rotating the bezel.
The stainless steel case is free of dents and scratches,the case back has fine marks and these cannot be erased for fear of losing the serial number and other markings,unfortunately and on most of the pre 1980's Breitlings the markings were not deep enough to withstand much polishing,all the markings on this watch are still present.
The Navitimer comes ready to wear on an original Black Calf Breitling strap and pin buckle.
