Breitling Navitimer 806
'Vintage Elegance' In 1952 a new Breitling chronograph arrived, the Navitimer is a word derived from “Navi”,for the word “Navigation” plus the word “Timer”.The Navitimer was universally usable in flying and the very first Navitimers bore the letters AOPA “Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
The first of these watches used Valjoux 72 movements and the early cases were constructed with an inner movement ring, these 72 movements were soon replaced by the Venus 178 Calibre and with a slightly different case that did not require a movement ring.
This configuration with raised logo and case is rare and is considered a collectors item
The watch for sale is from 1955 and an inbetween model or transitional, the all black dial with a Gilt raised B logo has replaced the AOPA, the case still has a movement ring but has the new Venus 178 calibre. Not water proof
