IWC 18ct solid gold watch Box & papers (1959)

This International Watch Company wrist watch dates to late 1950's early 60's.This particular model is unusual for IWC , not so much the case diameter of 34.5mm but the width between the lugs is wider than normal at 20mm,the 18ct gold case comprises of 3 sections,the Bezel,Middle Section and Case Back.These sections snap together to complete the watch,IWC were one of the few companies to manufacture water-resistant watches with this snap back and snap bezel system(ie IWC is the only military WWW with a snap back) . The actual 18ct gold case is in very good condition for its age and is free of dents and scratches,though due to its age the case is no longer water-resistant.The inside of the case back is stamped with the usual logos and hallmarks and case number: 1489240 .The winding crown has the fish logo on it which indicates a water-resistant model.The dial is original to the watch and is in excellent condition,there is a small blemish at the 19 minute marker,the hands are also near perfect they have IWC's distintive mirror finish to them.The movement Calibre 8531 is without doubt one of the best automatic movements ever made,this particular movement is also in excellent condition for its age and keeps excellent time,the movement is clearly maked with calibre number,name of manufacturer and movement number: 1529307.As you can see from the Certificate of Origin the numbers written on the Guarantee match the movement and case back.

This IWC is a fine example of craftsmanship and would enhance any collection,the watch comes on a black shiny alligator strap (no IWC buckle) with Original Box,Original Guarantee,Service Receipt from 1980 ( then £88.65) and Leaflet of Authorised Dealers.As an added bonus I have also made up a small photo album consisting of photos that I have taken when servicing the watch, the photos highlight in detail the important reference numbers, also within the album are the Guarantee, Receipt and Leaflet.
