WWW Vintage British Military Grana Wrist Watch (1945)

GRANA  British Military Watch 1945 : After World War II Circa 1945 the British Army required watches for general service, the Ministry of Defence procured thousands of watches involving 12 Swiss manufacturers. These 12 Brands are known as the ''Dirty Dozen''.

The 12 brands are : Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, International Watch Co, Jaeger-Le-Coultre, Lemania, Longines, Omega,Record, Timor and Vertex.

Of these 12 brands the least known would be Timor and Grana (the other brands would be known for there non military range of watches)

The Grana was manufactured by Kurth Freres(Kurth Freres were also retailing watches under the brand Certina).The Grana watch for sale is in excellent condition for its age,the specifications by the MOD are all original. The Swiss dial(not a service dial) is in  very good condition with just a little wear of paint on the 3,4 and 11 markers,the all steel case is free of dents and scratches the fixed bars are not worn. The KF320 calibre movement is in excellent condition free of water damage and keeps excellent time. To identify the watch as  MOD property the dial and case back have the arrow head sign marked on them, the case back also has WWW  with the letter code and number M18531 marked  on the outside, this is repeated on the inside with the added serial number 552069.The watch comes ready to wear on a nato band.

The Grana,s  production figures are estimated between  1-1,500 units compare this to Omega which is estimated at 25,000 or IWC which is 8,000 units makes the Grana the rarest and therefore the most difficult WWW to find making this also the most expensive WWW to collect.
